What is the Racing League?

Introduced in 2021, the Racing League was a ground breaking new team competition which ran on six Thursday nights, with teams competing for points. Now in its third year, Racing League returns with six more exciting and highly-competitive fixtures. Every RL fixture consists of seven races with each of the seven teams fielding two runners. Points are awarded for all finishing positions from 1st to 10th place and the team that collects the highest points tally over the six weeks will become the Racing League Champions. There are 100 points to be won in each race.

What happens?

All meetings consist of seven races, with each team to provide two runners for each race. Each team has seven drafted jockeys - plus one wild card selection - a list of trainers, plus a team manager responsible for selecting their horses and jockeys for each race. The Teams The seven teams remain the same in 2023, and Wales & The West will be looking to follow-up their sensational victory over London & The South in 2022. Ireland, Scotland, The East, The North and Yorkshire will also be battling it out across the 42 races, with prize money in excess of £2 million up for grabs. Teams will carry their own distinct set of racing colours in each race.

Each of the seven RL teams consists of a racing manager, seven jockeys and a pool of trainers that are associated with the team and will supply the runners in the competition. The prizes The winning team will receive a bonus of £50,000, with £5,000 awarded to each of the winning team’s seven jockeys, and £20,000 to the jockey that scores the most individual points over the competition.

When does it take place?

It kicked off on July 27 at Yarmouth, before heading to Chepstow (August 10), Windsor (August 17), Newcastle (August 31), Wolverhampton (September 7) and Southwell for the finale on September 13.
